Sarah Day Celebrates Life’s Imperfections Through Uplifting Artwo

“Not everything has to be perfect all of the time. Art is never going to be as perfect as you want it to be. It’s always going to be a little off. But generally, the things that are off about it are the things people are going to like and find comfort in.”

Sarah Day is a realist. Even more, she is a realist who lovingly creates a space for the rest of us to be completely ourselves in every way, shape or form. Sarah draws uplifting designs straight from her heart that break down barriers, challenge the patriarchy and encourage a refreshing outlook on life.

“It’s totally okay to learn how to let things go and let things not be perfect. Not everything has a perfect sensical reason,” Sarah shares. “That’s a big thing with art too, not everything in art needs a reason. Some things in art just exist.”

Born and raised in San Diego, Sarah graduated college with a degree in Jewish Studies with hopes of becoming a world-traveling rabbi. After moving to Australia and experiencing the grueling schedule that a rabbi’s career demands, she reexamined her life’s direction.

Sarah always cherished drawing in her sketchbook as an adolescent, but art remained a private part of her life. When she eventually moved back to California, Sarah reverted back to art to cope with life’s challenges.

“Where I was before, mostly doing academia and other cerebrally focused work, I felt like everything had to be spot on all the time. There’s something about art that it’s never going to be as perfect as you want it to be. It’s always going to be a little off, and generally the things that are off about it are the things people are going to like and find comfort in,” Sarah shares. “I don’t know if the professional path I was on before this would have been able to serve me those lessons.”

From politically driven artwork, like the clever cover art for the Highly Political podcast hosted by Samantha Kellie and BLOOM FARMS own Tianna Jones, to body-positive messaging and beyond, Sarah creates art with purpose. Online reviews show that each illustration proves more powerful

than the next, inspiring her followers and the surrounding art culture with her clever combination of creativity and message.

Sarah enjoys the creative aspect of illustration and says she doesn’t produce art for fame and glory; she creates it for honest human connection.

“When I think of my hallmark accomplishments, especially in the online space, what feels best is making genuine, solid connections with artists I admire,” Sarah says. “That always feels like a huge accomplishment. Validation and kinship always feel really incredible. I think that is always the most exciting.”

Sarah currently resides in Memphis, where she surrounds herself with friends who empower and inspire her work. When she’s not turning her colorful ideas into art, Sarah spends about many hours a week in the “self-care mode” with a little help from BLOOM FARMS CBD Tincture
